Google Goggles seemed amazing to me when it was first announced. The thought that I could perform visual searches on things I didn’t recognize was intriguing and something I thought would – cliche alert – revolutionize the way people discover information. Goggles might still do that someday, but not yet. Despite the impressive features that

All of you Google Voice fans better be excited because 2010 is possibly shaping up to be the year Google Voice will become VOIP capable. In an interview with eWeek, Google Executive Bradley Horowitz revealed that Google indeed plans to implement VOIP services in the coming year, thus allowing Google Voice users to use VOIP services with a data connection. Horowitz had this to say: What we’re trying to do with telephony is give people a seamless experience that frees up their telephony communication from the silos where it’s lived for the last decade. Voicemail, my contacts, all of those things have been segregated from the rest of my Web experience. We have big plans to do a better job. As someone who uses Google Voice daily, I am extremely excited about this. As always, we will keep you informed when more definitive information comes forward. Lets hop its true! Ten Minutes of Nexus One Footage to Tease You
When it comes to showing a Nexus One getting put through the paces, the following video is the best footage we’ve come across so far. While it’s not high definition by any means, it’s still better than anything else we’ve suffered through these last few weeks. The ten minute clip shows the user messing with animated wallpapers (very cool), the camera, gallery, weather (neato), maps, and the browser. The response and overall speed of the Nexus One seems to be downright incredible. One of these days, they’ll get around to a better music player. Right guys? Motorola’s 4.3-Inch ‘Mirage’ Headed for China
Motorola seems to be really swinging for the fences with their Android handsets. Take a look at the rumored Mirage (or Shadow) for a glimpse as to what the handset maker is up to now. A BGR tipster has passed along some specs to this device which is said to be headed to China. We’re waiting on a better link from BGR so we can try our hand at translating, but here’s what’s rumored so far… Codenamed Mirage or Shadow 4.3-inch 800×484 display HDMI port 8 megapixel camera 1080p video playback 9.0mm thick! We can’t imagine the Shadow name sticking around as T-Mobile and HTC already locked that one up a few years back. We’re going to go out on a limb and guess something in the 600MHz/512 memory ballpark for this one. We’ll be sure to pass along anything we come across! Popular Posts That You Might Enjoy! Nexus One Rooted Already
Well, the title kind of says it all. The high honor is being claimed by MoDaCo’s founder Paul O’Brien , who reported on a thread back at his site, he had created “Superboot”. Superboot is a boot.img that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot The news was broken by Engadget yesterday afternoon, they included this picture from forum user Stericson as confirmation of the achievement. If it weren’t for Paul’s reputation on the mobile space I would say this is totally bogus, especially since Stericson is already saying on his Twitter account that the root hack won’t work on the device once it goes on sale I hate to kill everyone’s high, But the root that we managed to get on the Nexus root Probably will not work on the shipped phone. 3D Neocore Benchmark Video and High Res Photos of the Nexus One

Well, if you think the news about the Google Nexus One are going to stop or slow down, let me say that you are wrong. The folks over at Nexusphoneblog have been playing and testing a Nexus One, they also posted a youtube video for your viewing pleasure. With January 5th just around the corner, and everyone expecting Google to go official with the announcement of the Nexus One, news about this handset just keep on coming. And the Benchmarking of this phone is a great deal to many Android developers and future users alike. According to the French translation; the opinion of the tester is: “26.7 fps, not bad but a little disappointing. The lack of PowerVR feels”. It might be a little disappointing, but is still a good result and a good feeling about the graphics and power of this already famous Android handset, which might already be the “best Android-powered device on the planet”. If you like to check the high resolution photos of the Nexus One, just head on to this thread in our forums. Click here to view the embedded video. [Via SlasGear & Our Forums ]

The Google Nexus One is now Rooted with Superboot

We know that one of the hottest Android phones in the planet; the DROID by Motorola, has been rooted. And now we get word that another hot Android handset is rooted, the funny thing, is that this handset is not even officially released. We all know this is something that will happen sooner or later to most phones, but rooting an unreleased handset is a little out of the ordinary. The most important thing about this, you really don’t have to deal with too many steps or some difficult method to get it done. All you have to do is; flash the boot image using the instructions below and that’s it. How to use Superboot – Windows, Linux and OSX – Download the Superboot zip file above and extract to a directory – Put your device in bootloader mode – turn if off, remove battery, plug in USB cable, when battery icon appears onscreen, replace battery then tap the powerbutton while holding the Camera key – WINDOWS – double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’ – MAC – Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh’ – LINUX – Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-linux.sh’ Always remember that you do things like this at your own risk, so if you don’t feel comfortable doing it, don’t do it! Also, you have to download Superboot first, but don’t worry, Vincent has a thread in our forums where you can do that, or you can also click here. [Via Our Forums and SlashGear ]
