Verizon HTC Incredible launching in two weeks?

This latest rumored comes straight from an inside Verizon and HTC source. Tumors have it, this phone will be in stock in two weeks, this is awesome news for all you Verizon customers. This is another 2.1 Android device that is also worthy of the title, “Superphone”, that was given to the Nexus One. Other than the back of the device this phone, which is awful, this isn’t a bad looking device. Once you factor in the 8MP camera, 3.7″ AMOLED and FM Radio, this is a great buy for anyone who wants an Android in their life. Verizon has the most powerful Android lineup with this, the Nexus and the Droid all under the same roof. [via slashphone ]

South Korea Could block The Android Market

Reports are starting to surface from South Korean government officials that the Android Market may be banned. The games in the Android Market have not yet received approval from the nation’s regulating body, the Games Ratings Board. This may cause the entire Market to be excluded from South Korean Android devices. Google’s Korea branch has received a letter from the Ratings Board outlining what changes need to be made before the Market can be approved. If Google does not make the required changes it would get banned until they are made. 4000 games has yet to be rated by this board. There are two Android phones in South Korea and up to five more are rumored to be released this year, it would be awful for these phones to be rendered marketless. [via afterdawn ]

Opera Mini 5 Beta Now Available For Android

Opera Mini 5 Beta Now Available For Android

The most popular mobile browser in the world has finally made its way to Android. This version 5 seems to be light years ahead of the version 4 which has been available for quite some time. This version now offers tabbed browsing, there is a bar at the bottom that shows you the number of tabs that you have open and when you click on it a mini view of the page appears. This browser for most will replace the stock browser. Some of the other big new features: * Speed Dial: Gives you one-touch access to 9 of your favorite sites. * Password Manager * Opera Link: Syncs your bookmarks (and Speed Dial) between your handset and your desktop (be it that you’re running Opera on your desktop, that is) The only two problems I’ve found so far is the browser doesnt recognize my existing bookmarks and there’s no Flash integration. So if you have a Flash capable phone, I would play with this but stick to the stock browser.

Google rewards Android devs with free phones

Google sent out email’s earlier today to a select group of Android developers informing them that they are eligible to receive either a Verizon Droid or a Nexus One, as part of its ‘Device Seeding Program’. Developer’s of applications that has more than 5,000 downloads and a rating of 3.5 stars or higher qualify for one of these two Android devices. The email read: “Due to your contribution to the success of Android Market, we would like to present you with a brand new Android device as part of our developer device seeding program. You are receiving this message because you’re one of the top developers in Android Market with one or more of your applications having a 3.5 star or higher rating and more than 5,000 unique downloads. In order to receive this device, you must click through to this site, read the terms and conditions of the offer and fill out the registration form to give us your current mailing address so that we can ship your device. You will receive either a Verizon Droid by Motorola or a Nexus One. Developers with mailing addresses in the US will receive either a Droid or Nexus one, based on random distribution. Developers from Canada, EU, and the EEA states (Norway, Lichtenstein), Switzerland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore will receive a Nexus One. Developers with mailing addresses in countries not listed above will not receive a phone since these phones are not certified to be used in other countries. We hope that you will enjoy your new device and continue to build more insanely popular apps for Android!” Although the developer will not have the ability to choose which device they want, this is a great incentive for Android app makers to try and put out quality products. You never know what Google may give away next. There are quite few developers who currently have older Android devices, now they can use these to help aid them in making apps compatible with the latest Android devices. These are some exciting times here at AndroidCommunity . Our top dog Vincent (CoFounder) of AndroidCommunity made an announcement at the beginning of the moth that he would be giving away a few Vaja Google Nexus One leather cases. Ever since then we all have been stalking the thread day and night hoping that our name will be pulled out the proverbial hat. Well it finally happened last night. The first winner was non other than our newly promoted Director of the community Simms22 . He is probably the most deserving person for the prize. Simms has been around since the beginning of AC helping almost every member that step foot in our community. He has spent countless hours hammering out problems and no matter how long it takes he usually gets the job done. He is one of the most knoweldgedlb people in our community and if you ever need help modding your phone he will surely step in to help. But Simms was only the first winner. Vincent threw in a curve ball announcing that there will be 3 more winners but, Simms would have the responsibility of choosing them. And early in the a.m., Simms chose the second winner. CMBarry1 , emerged victorious with one of the most sought after prizes, the beautiful Vaja Google Nexus One leather case. I’m sure CM is a happy camper now but don’t hang your head. All AC members are still live for the last 2 cases. So head over to the thread and throw your hat into the race. You never know, you could be the next winner. Sprint releasing WiMAX device by summer?

Sprint has been bragging about being the first 4G carrier for the longest now. This may be true but they currently has no 4G capable phone to take advantage of this. This may change this coming summer with the release of the HTC Supersonic. Forbes is suspecting that this device could be Sprint’s first WIMAX offering this year. And they also states that it could see a summer release. This will be a welcome edition to Sprint’s lineup which is currently one of the weakest out of the major carriers. This will be the fastest Android device as far as downloads and uploads if it is released this year. Could this be there second Sense UI device? Only time will tell, stay tuned as more information about this becomes available we will be sure to keep you updated. Related posts: Sprint planning HTC Hero & combo CDMA/WiMAX Android phone? Opera Mobile 10 running on the Nexus One Video

Opera Mobile will off a PC like browser experience to your Android device. They are working closely with phone manufacturers to have this app preinstalled on upcoming Android devices. In the meantime they are looking to improve on their current Opera Mini offering with the new 5th edition . It’s currently a beta but you can try it out now if you like. Currently Opera Mobile 10 is available for beta testing but isn’t ready for Android yet. This app is expected to launch sometime towards the end of the year and will have major competition in the form of Mozilla Firefox offering. Unlike Opera Mini, Opera Mobile doesn’t go through servers to get information, the information is gained directly through the device itself. For a program that’s pretty much in alpha stage, it runs pretty well. Click here to view the embedded video.
