Xperia X10 Launching On Rogers Next Week

The Xperia X10 no longer has the crown for hottest upcoming Android, and pretty soon (finally) it won’t be “upcoming” in Canada. Last week the carrier sent out an E-Mail saying it would soon be available for pre-order, but that would be a short-lived pre-order has MobileSyrup says the phone should be made available between April 7th and 14th. That’s next week! Plop down $550 straight up, or $150 on a 3-year contract, and the you could be wielding a Maple-powered X10. Whether you’ll want to? Let us know. I’d just like to make a point that the “3-year contract” policy of Canadian carriers is ludicrous. Phones are evolving so quickly that ONE year later your mobile device is ancient, after 3 years it may have already crumbled into dust.

LG Aloha: Say Hello To A High-End LG Android

The most vigorous Android adopters on the manufacturing side have been HTC, Motorola and now Samsung. Sony Ericsson tried to get onboard awhile back but seem to be paddling themselves in circles, while LG has only released/announced a couple Android phones ( LG Eve , LG Swift) – all on the lower end side of things. The rumored LG Aloha seeks to break that trend. A recent User Agent Profile combined with a Wi-Fi certificate for the LG C710 ( PDF ) give us more than enough evidence to think the LG Aloha is for real. That isn’t necessarily saying it will come to fruition, but if it does, it could include: 800?480 pixel touchscreen 65,000 color display WiFi 802.11b/g/n GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA and HSUPA The kicker here is that while all the high-end Androids rolling out after the Motorola Droid are full touchscreen (Desire, EVO 4G, Galaxy S, Incredible, Nexus One , Xperia X10) the LG Aloha is rumored to have a full QWERTY keyboard. Personally, we would welcome LG into the realm of higher-end Androids, and hopefully that full QWERTY is remniscient of the LG Voyager. Yes, please. [Via Tweakers ]

HTC Indredible Arrives In Warehouses

Good news and bad news at the same time folks. The HTC Incredible, which saw no love as it was expected to during CTIA, has already begun arriving in warehouses. According to the following screenshot leaked on AndroidForums , 156,709 Incredibles are “On Order” but as the tipster states, they’ll stay in that classification category until they’re actually ready for purchase. The bad news? Those precious little Incredibles are sitting there all prettied up with 2.1, ready to go, and they’re not shipping to stores this week. That means we’ve at least a little bit to wait…

Samsung Galaxy S Launching In June For $1,000+

Over at MobileReview ( translated ) they’ve gotten their hands on the scorching hot Samsung Galaxy S and have provided a full review that, even after jumping the language hurdle, seems pretty insightful. The thing that leaps out the most is a more specific price and date, something that has yet to be officially announced. The Galaxy S will launch in June for 30,000 Rubles in Russia which is the equivalent of over $1,000 USD. Uhoh… we hope it doesn’t arrive in the Americas at such an inflated price. Even after contract and rebate, that would be a hefty price to pay. And with the HTC EVO 4G for Sprint being another obvious option, price should be a huge point of contention between these two Android Phones. Although with Russian commentary, we thought you might like to see the video they did as it compares the Galaxy S to some other devices and runs through some of the screens and options: I think$1,000 unsubsidized and even $500 subsidized is a fee that most Android fans won’t want the burden of enduring, but I’m hopeful that Samsung and whatever partners they choose will find a way to bring the Galaxy S to market more affordably than this initially rumored price.

Samsung Galaxy S Pro With Keyboard Rumored

There are touchscreen only fans and hardware keyboard fans and some folks are adamant about having it one way or another. That’s why when an amazing mobile phone like the Motorola Droid – or in this case the Samsung Galaxy S – are announced, one knee-jerk reaction is to wonder what the phone would be like if they offered an alternate version. We’re all familiar with the practice of adding a slideout QWERTY and slapping a “Pro” on to the end of the name, and that is exactly what HDBlog.it are suggesting will happen with the Samsung Galaxy S. The above picture is only a mock-up and is NOT real. But, rumor has it a phone that looks very similar to the Galaxy S will add the keyboard and start selling in late summer, after the original S has been on the market a couple months. Is there any truth to the rumor? No way of knowing. Would you be happy if the rumor came true? Different question completely… and one that I’d love for YOU to answer. View Poll Whether it will ever exist? That’s merely a matter of opinion for folks like you and me.

Gigabyte Boston Android Phone Headed To Orange [Codfish]

Earlier this month we saw the Gigabyte Codfish swim onto the Android scene with a 5MP camera, 3.2-inch screen, very few details and nothing official. The company DOES produce a line of mobile phones called GSmart but they all seem to run on Windows Mobile, with this “leak” being their first Android attempt. Consider the effort escalated as the Bluetooth SIG just listed the device . Interestingly enough, the name seems to have changed from Codfish to Boston and the carrier (or company URL in this case) has been listed as Orange. Yet again, details are absent, but this is a solid sign that the Gigabyte Boston/Codfish GSmart Android Phone is on the way. And with a name like GSmart, don’t you think Android fits the company better than Windows Mobile anyways?

Kyocera Zio Priced And Dated For Cricket

We had a feeling ( not to mention a bunch of evidence ) that the Kyocera Zio would launch on Cricket as the carriers first Android phone – and we were right. Over at BGR they’ve got a full presentation chock-full of Cricket’s 2010 devices and what is one of the featured phones? None other than the Zio! The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is listed at $299.99, so you can expect the phone to cost significantly less than that, especially with contracts and rebates. It should launch in July of this year and specs include a 3.5-inch screen, WVGA resolution, Wi-Fi, and 3.2MP camera. The important thing here, in my mind, is that yet another carrier is giving its customers access to Android. Regardless of Cricket’s relative size measured by subscriber base, there will be a lot of people eagerly chirping about this one. And now I’m wondering if they should launch their own little version of Twitter. Chirper anyone?

Encore Appearance: MyTouch 3G Fender Edition Returns

It wasn’t just the idea to use Eric Clapton as the frontman for their MyTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition campaign that pushed the phone to sellout in record time, the phone stands on its own two feet by looking like a rockstar itself. I mean look at that gorgeous mug on the left – THAT is a classy piece of kit. I’m not surprised the MyTouch Fender sold out, but like any great performer, cheers for the phone were heard and T-Mobile is about to push the device back on stage for one final set. At least that’s what internal documents leaked to TMOnews suggest. According to the screenshot, T-Mobile will be receiving one final shipment of the phone to arrive on March 31st, 2010. That’s tomorrow for those counting. If you’re dying for one of these devices, I might recommend NOT waiting until tomorrow, and instead contacting your T-Mobile stores to inquire. Maybe they’ll set on aside for you? Let us know how you fare. MyTouuuuuuch… got me on my knees, MyTouch. My phone be ringing geez Mytouch. Okay, back to earth.

Sprint EVO 4G Will Not Have Simultaneous Voice/Data

It is quite clear that Verizon and AT&T are the two powerhouses in the American mobile market. As the two have battled it out publicly in commercials – app for that, map for that, 3G coverage claims and everything else you can imagine – AT&T does have one undeniable benefit over Verizon. Simultaneous voice and data. The benefit from AT&T is inherent from their network technology, which is GSM-based. Both Verizon and Sprint have CDMA technology which prevent them from accomplishing the same feat. But what about Sprint 4G? Could their WiMax technology usher in a new capability for the carrier to offer simultaneous voice and data to rival AT&T? The answer is “No” according to HTC, at least in terms of the HTC EVO 4G : “If you’re using 4G for data, you can’t use CDMA for voice. Currently the only way to do simultaneous voice and data would be through a third-party VOIP solution. However, this is not due to strict hardware limitations, so it’s possible this could change with future updates.” We haven’t yet heard from Sprint themselves and we’re not sure what the exact limitations are – this COULD potentially be resolved for future phones but I’m not sure how likely that scenario is to play out. But if you’re grabbing the EVO 4G it appears as though AT&T customers will still be able to brag about at least one downfall of your device… or at least the network on which your device is running. RUMOR: Droid Getting Update Today?

Either we have an anonymous tipster in-the-know or someone took some time to play a very mean April Fools joke on us. We’re hearing a rumor – one that we cannot verify or deny so take it at face value – that Verizon Wireless will begin a Droid update today. Don’t hold your breath, we’ve heard this before, but in an E-Mail that was supposedly sent out to select VZW employees, we get a hint that this COULD be the real deal. A link in the E-Mail leads to this Droid Support PDF : Look familiar? Maybe… a couple weeks ago we posted almost the same thing which was already available on the VZW website. But check out the software version – it has changed from ESE53 to ESE81, signaling perhaps they’ve updated the package and truly are ready to move forward. Now the juicy stuff. Here is the E-Mail that is reportedly being received by VZW employees. Note the bulk of users would get the update on April 1st. If this is a mean April Fools Day joke it isn’t by me… its by the anonymous tipster, Verizon or Motorola. Starting 03/30/2010, Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for the DROID by Motorola. Users will be able to upgrade their software to version AP: ESE81/BP: C_01.3E.03P to receive new improvements and enhancements. *Key Advantages:* o Email – Yahoo Mail is now supported – customers can simply sign in with their Yahoo! Also note that all the bullet points aren’t the same, such as “Email accounts no longer need to be re-entered after an over-the-air update.” Make of it what you will. We clearly labeled it as a rumor because it isn’t something we can verify, but we felt it was worthy of posting. Now we’ll just have to wait a few days and see how it pans out.
