HTC EVO 4G Promo Video

HTC has released a promotional video for the upcoming HTC EVO 4G. up until now there hasn’t been a video that really showed how beautiful this device is. It would’ve been up sooner but I couldn’t stop watching it. Click here to view the embedded video. At first I thought this would be the official commercial for the device bit it’s a minute and a half and that a minute too long for today’s commercials. The features and hardware are beautifully displayed in this video and now I want it even more (too bad it’s on Sprint).

First Look: HTC EVO 4G for Sprint [VIDEO]

We’ve seen a few “promotional” videos for the HTC EVO 4G , but up until now, they’ve all been rather mediocre and sloppily put together. But now, HTC has released a more whole-hearted effort and illustrating the beauty and capabilities of the EVO. For your viewing pleasure, a clip that does the device a little more justice: The spot is 1.5 minutes long, so it isn’t likely to be used as an actual commercial, but we’re expecting Sprint and HTC to promote the HECK out of this thing so I’m eager to see what their television-ready ad will look like.

Android Hackathon Recap Video

The open nature of Android makes it particularly interesting/entertaining for independent developers to hack away at apps and devices on their own, and when doing so, you’re often at a lonely desk with no social interaction beyond IRC or ChatRoulette. I’m sure you’re all familiar with “Meetups” of various kinds, and I’d love for Phandroid/AF to either host or be a part of one in the near future, especially after seeing the success of Android Hackathon in Silicon Valley. It’s no secret that Phandroid/AF would LOVE to attract a more active development community, and we’re thinking of holding a dev contest of sorts in the near future, but what are your thoughts on a potential Phandroid/AndroidForums meetup/hackathon for all Android enthusiasts? Developers, consumers, and everybody in between? It would likely be in the DC/Baltimore area but we could also hold it before/during/after a large event like Google I/O. In any case, congrats to the Android Hackathon event holders and their sponsors, it looks like it was a great time and hopefully it was productive as well. [Via Marakana ]

Dell Aero Disappoints, Seeks Redemption

Epic tech fiend Joshua Topolsky from Engadget got his mittens on the Dell Aero and the outcome wasn’t good. He immediately noticed the software keyboard was one of the worst ever and his analysis continued down that slippery path. AT&T bloatware, lack of Google applications, weird home/back button, medium speed UI… he simply wasn’t digging it and seems to think AT&T/Dell are just positioning it as a decent feature phone: Not the types of things AT&T or Dell wanted to hear from the Aero – their first American Android. Both parties reached out to claim the device might not bbe pre-loaded with Google apps but the phone does have Android Market. Not to mention, the version tested probably was a beta and doesn’t represent a final product. Fair enough, but I’m not sure how much or if the device will actually improve before launch day.

Verizons Nexus One Will Be Available in April with A Few Mods (Rumor)

Jkontherun says to expect the N1 in April with “something that the versions on other U.S. carriers lack.” Flash 10.1, a better touch screen and the trackball will be swapped out for the Desire’s trackpad? There is also a video of the google.com/phone page that shows this being available for a short time. I predict a bunch of pitchforks and burning torches at Google’s doorstep if this turns out to be true. If there is a better touch screen and the other modifications made, Google needs to rename the phone. Some of us that have the current edition of the Nexus will want these modifications as well. Especially Flash 10.1 and the better screen. And that would cost a pretty penny to have all the screens changed on every phone that has been sold to date so it’s unlikely Google would swap them out. It’s kind of blurry but in the leaked video it looks like this phone can be purchased subsidized like the T-Mobile compatible version. If so they would be the second carrier to offer this phone at a lower price than the other carriers. Looks fake to me but you be the judge. Click here to view the embedded video.

Samsung Galaxy S Announcement Presentation Video

Can I just say that I love the energy and excitement of JK Shin, President of Samsung Mobile Communications Business, who leads off the video of the Samsung CTIA Galaxy S announcement/press conference? The way he says “ Samsung Galaxy S ” makes me think the device just beat Jean-Claude Van Damme at the end of an imaginary movie called Bloodsport 2. Side note: Van Damme was recently rumored to actually be pitching that movie, the first of which was created in 1988, to production studios (without the Galaxy S winning). Check out the presentation video from Samsung Mobile: Just for fun Also just for fun View Poll Discuss.

Jam Out To A Legend Unboxing

The folks at Swedish website Feber.se have gotten their lucky little hands on the HTC Legend , and with some jam band music in the background, they pull out the HD stops – and the Legend out of the box – as they explore the ins and outs of the phone. Makes me wish the HTC Legend was announced in the states, and when/if it is I’m guessing it will follow the HTC Hero to Sprint, but with the HTC EVO 4G already headed in Sprint’s direction, I can’t exactly complain.
